My name is Kelsi Jo Phillips. I am a full time student at Marshall University and am in my second year of the Elementary Education program. Since I was a child, I've always wanted to teach kids. More often than never, I was found in my room in front of my scholarly stuffed animals, rattling off times tables or the ABC's. I've known for a long time that teaching was my passion, and I look forward to having the privilege of educating America's future.

This Web Portfolio encompasses many aspects of Poetry and Verse for students in third grade. I find literacy, self-expression, and literary interpretation to be very important aspects of education, and therefore chose my unit plan based on the foundation of Reading and Language Arts skills. I enjoy poetry by Dr. Seuss and Shel Silverstein, but really just find myself being captivated the most by stories that have great rhyme and rhythm. They're just so fun for kids and adults alike!
This unit plan leaves room for students to express themselves, be exposed to many forms of poetry, and create poetry of their own.
